beautiful... Just got into fountain pens, so I can't put the money on this yet... a shame, because it is so pretty.

MegaFighter_Xas a recent fountain lover myself, I would suggest not to spend cash on low end pens, a couple is enough, save enough for bigger guys, not necessarily the flagship models, though, But solid gold nib is the way to go.

Bailey2013Thanks for the advice. I'm enjoying my pilot metropolitan, and carry that with me day to day. Stagehands are surprised when I show up with it. :D

MegaFighter_XFountain pens are like paper books in the age of electronics. Old-school is not definitely not outdated. I'm getting tired of chasing the latest gadgets. Putting down inks with fountain pens on paper makes me feel grounded and is so meditative:D

Bailey2013I get that. I just want to have better handwriting overall.

Bailey2013as being new into fine fountain pens myself, why are gold nibs better?

treeincIf I recall, I believe they are a softer material, and that allows more flexibility for line width. Goulet pens touches on that briefly. Check out their YouTube channel.

treeincFYI, all gold nibs are not the same. The craftsmanship, not the sheer gold, makes the difference. After all, the iridium tip is what touches paper during writing. :D

Here's a video that touches on it somewhat. But what bailey says is true. I'm still new to this myself, so take what I'm saying with a grain of salt.

MegaFighter_XI probably would trade any of my western gold-nibbed FP for a steel-nibbed Diplomat. It's THAT good. :D

MegaFighter_XA nice intermediate pen is the Faber-Castell Loom. Writes better than most in my collection, and can be found occasionally on MD.

PaulAdams11I recently picked up a Pelikan m200 in smokey quartz. That was a good buy. A bit of flex on the nib, and a joy to write with.
