Anyone who bought the U4-SE the previous round and want to sell them do give me a heads up. A little skeptical about APEX module and will prefer ADEL B1 at least.
Or is APEX module really comparable to ADEL module?

helloimkonI've got the U4-SE from the previous round with the ADEL B1 module, and did a direct comparison between the APEX module m20 this winter. I've got to say, the ADEL modules were far superior in various aspects. First is fitness. Since APEX modules were designed to fit in smaller sized ports for the new A series, although the modules do fit in the U series, they're not snug so you get the extra anxiety of whether or not they'll fall out as wear and tear progresses on the rubber/silicon gaskets. Second is sound. Though I believe it was not a fair comparison between the less isolating B1 versus the m20, even taking that into account, the m20 sounded really muffled from my perspective. The bass tended to be more overpowering, the highs didn't extend as far as it did as the B1, and from my overall preference of the wide soundstage that the B1 provides, the m20 did not offer anything close to that experience. mayyyybe, just mayyybe it's the fault of the protective mesh in the module that interferes with the sound...? Lastly is build quality. APEX modules felt super cheap in my hands. But that's just me :p
hope this helps!

helloimkonDon't feel limited to the modules if you want to customize the sound though. I personally took my pair to the next level by replacing the eartips with Shure's olive foam for a more snug fit and a more unaltered sound compared to the supplied Comply (the high seems rounded, mids a little covered, and the lows less punchy), and I also changed my cable to Labkable's Takumi 2.5mm TRRS balanced.
Though I won't recommend the Shure's olive foams for the faint of heart since it takes heck a load of guts to push that narrow core into the U4-SE's wide nozzle (it took some ingenuity to get that sucker in ;p ), there are TONS of aftermarket upgrade cables to choose from: Wagnus, Brise Audio, Labkable, Beat Audio, Effect Audio etc.

DicloneusBut you can use the APEX modules on the ADEL variant but not the other way round.. I would rather have the ADEL variant than have the APEX ones with an additional free APEX module.

DicloneusHi Dicloneus, the B1 and the m20 is not a fair comparison because they are meant to work differently. The m15 is comparable to the B1 (isolation, sound signature, soundstage) and the m20 is comparable to the S1.
