Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

Additionally, this is going to be my true high-end purchase for the first time, so I really need to make sure.
I typically enjoy Audio Technica's house sound, and how different are your house sound compared to theirs? For the U5s I'm expecting the highs to be clear as day, but whether it'll be so bright it's sibilant, I'm not sure. And how does the vocal go with these? I'm more into something that's smooth and refined, but detailed. As for bass presence I don't mind it being a tad low, but I don't want it to be weak as well. Perhaps the U4s would be the better option? But seeing the charts on the official website, it seems to me like the vocals are going to be especially dark. I don't think I'd like that. Can someone confirm for me how's the mids on these 2 like?
I'm sorry if I'm not very clear, but I hope I can find an answer here before i commit. It's a pretty big purchase for me (and I believe a lot of others as well
If you look at the impedance of both pairs, it's low enough to plug them straight into your iPhone or laptop, sending enough juice to drive every driver, but for an investment in the future, try upgrading the cable. I went from a stock cable to an 8-core cable from Labkable and now I can tell every driver is working to its fullest potential.
If you're okay with it, I'd like to ask another question. In your own definition, how would you describe the sound? Is it more V-shaped or more along the lines of being warm but balanced?
Since the bass and mid drivers are combined into one, this formulates a more uniform sound, likened by audiophiles and music lovers/enthusiasts rather than for people using them as monitors. With the high driver having a bore on its own, the highs are present but tuned just enough that it wouldn't cause much sibilance (at least for me).
Of course this information is based off the U4-SE ADEL, and I have no idea whether 64audio tweaked the architecture for the apex version. Hope this gives you a better idea of how they sound like.
tl;dr = they sound musical and more uniform (which is how music should be listened to anyway... based on my belief ;p ) rather than having a monitor-like separation.
I was previously using UE's Triple Fi 10 pro (triple BA, 2 way drivers) and upgraded to the U4-SE, and I can say it was one of the greatest investments I made in a while.
For the U4-SE though, imagine a symphony orchestra. The Bass Drum is definitely present and is visceral. But it isn't pretentious screaming "I'M THE MAIN CHARACTER." It is just enough to well complement and pair with the mids and the highs. These aren't bass heavy. They do have significant amount of bass as it's based off of the bass-heavy U4, but the mid and high drivers are tuned to make it a more balanced (not flat) sound signature.
I'm sorry if this doesn't make much sense to you, but the conventional description of "It's warm" "It's flat" "It's V-shaped" etc. etc. just won't do it justice for these fantastic earphones (I wouldn't call them IEMs since I believe these are really not meant for monitoring). Absolutely a unique sound.
Thanks for the help, mate!
