Howdy Everyone,
Just to make sure we are all on the same page...
The product we are offering in this drop is exactly the same as the HP SSD S700 Pro 2.5" 1TB SATA III 3D NAND Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) listed here https://www.amazon.com/HP-Internal-Solid-2LU81AA-ABL/dp/B075CPBWMX.
It is being produced right along side those HP drives in the same factory with the exact same components. It will also have the same 3 year warranty as the HP Pro drive.
Currently the cheapest you can get the HP drive for on Amazon for $216.79 and we are selling for $179.99.
Cheers.

Tex-ArozziCheaper brand-name SSDs are abound, and with longer warranty still, not to mention ready to ship immediately. https://www.massdrop.com/buy/1tb-sata-iii-3d-nand-oem-solid-state-hard-drive/talk/2171077 Another deal for a 1tb SSD for just $149.99 http://www.microcenter.com/product/508183/1tb-3d-nand-sata-iii-6gb-s-25-internal-solid-state-drive
Point is - your drive is nothing special and prices on SSDs have taken a significant dive this summer. The $180 is the high end of sale prices for 1tb SATA SSDs which occur constantly now.
This drive is also OEM which typically means it does not carry warranty from manufacturer but from VAR (value-added reseller, basically a system integrator who buys OEM parts to make complete computer systems). This means, all warranty claims will likely to be rejected by HP, unless you are supplying proper HP documentation and serial numbers for warranty purposes with each drive

AnzialInland? Just because a brand has a name, does not make it a 'Name Brand' product.

dead_pixel_designAt least it has a name, this drive has none. Name is all that matters, would you buy a no-name SSD from a random guy on the street? MD is that guy, it's a small company with little to no recognition and no long track record.

AnzialIt is cheaper because it doesn't have that branding. That is LITERALLY the whole point. And if I had already established a relationship with that guy on the street after numerous successful and extremely worthwhile purchases, and with the guy on the street having addressed any issues I have had quickly and in my favor along with the guy on the street being active with me as a consumer, participating in conversations about the stuff he is selling me, and working to get cool new things for me to see, and some things that I can't get anywhere else at a good price, yeah, you bet your ass I would buy from that random guy on the street every chance I got.

dead_pixel_designHey, shill, you are doing a terrible job, still only 5 ssds sold after 5 days 😂 people are smarter than you are and very well aware that this is not a deal and better ssds can be had elsewhere and cheaper👍

AnzialLOL, the drive he links is an "Inland" branded drive. I know the owner of this company and did business with him for MANY years back at my Frys Electronics days. This company makes low end peripherals, ect. I would NEVER buy an Inland SSD drive and the performance on it is laughable.

Tex-Arozzi For those wishing to be informed and not being pushed into potentially wasting $180 on something they might regret should consider the following:
1) SSD prices have taken a plunge over the summer. Here’s yet another sale for pretty much the same SSD (same controller and NAND chips) for $138.99 using coupon code AD23 https://www.rakuten.com/shop/adata/product/ASU800SS-1TT-C/ As a bonus, unlike MD you won't have to wait over a month to get it.
2) Much cheaper SSDs based on QLC are about to hit the market in mass, further driving SSD prices down. In fact, one is already out https://www.anandtech.com/show/13078/the-intel-ssd-660p-ssd-review-qlc-nand-arrives This is Intel budget NVMe 1tb for $200 MSRP, equivalent sata 1tb will probably start at $180 MSRP with street prices around $150 or less
3) The HP drive is not a high-performance one despite what B.Hutch and his cohort wants you to believe. Here's an opinion from one of the top SSD experts:
search
Source: https://www.anandtech.com/show/11790/the-hp-s700-and-s700-pro-ssd-review The reason is simple - the same SM2258 controller and Micron 3D NAND used in this drive are used in every other budget ssd on the planet. Plus, SATA3 interface severely limits SSD performance in general.
4) This drive offered is OEM, no name and doesn't have a manufacturer's warranty, the only warranty provided from MD itself. The question you should ask yourself is whether MD will survive long enough to service warranty claims. Since it's a small company, the risk of it going under is quite high.

Tex-ArozziI want to voice that I appreciate the work put into getting this drop on the site. Unbranded name brand products at a discount is exactly the kind of thing I like to see on platforms like Massdrop. Probably means less coming from me since I'm clearly a paid corporate shill (I will send you a PM for where you can send my shill paycheck) but none the less there are a lot of grateful users that appreciate the work that goes into scouting these drops.
