I'm getting the same malfunctioning device error as a few other people. I tested it before closing up the metal housing adding the heat shrink, everything was working fine then (tested using my V60 and Planck). I'll tear down and try again, some needle nose tweezers ought to make short work of the clips. I'll report back some time this weekend once I've had some time.

tulbotTo clarify the whole "malfunctioning device" confusion: You got the cable layout mixed up. I, too, did that at first. The video is detailing the assembly procedure of a USB B MINI connector, NOT MICRO. The micro connector is essentially a mirror layout of the mini. Check their pdf guide for pictures and more details: http://1upkeyboards.com/images/instructions/solderless_diy_cable_instructions.pdf

skullbringerIt was a mini, and I did test the cable before sealing it all up, and it worked. I think what may have occurred is that when I was sealing up the metal casing I pulled one or more of the signal cables out. It still powers things.
