I asked to return the additional cameras. They should accept a return if it was their fault for selling incompatible cameras.
They never did respond to me. I had to email customer service.
Just so you know I don't believe they sell the cameras separate from the system. I ordered them on ebay through a third party vendor. They work great though.

iglo1234Thanks! Yeah, I have been emailing customer support since Monday with no reply. It is incredibly irritating there is no direct (phone or chat) means of reaching them. This will realistically probably be the last drop I participate in.

Hi I already have 2 trendnet poe 3MP cameras. i was wondering if the dvr can record from them. Example would be rtsp. If it does I will most likely buy it.
justinxx2001@justinxx2001
Here is the response from the Lead Technical Manager at Swann.
The camera in question (the Trendnet camera you linked) supports a communication protocol called ONVIF. An ONVIF-compatible NVR would work with an ONVIF-compatible camera, allegedly. However, due to all the multiple manufacturers and various tweaks that they do to their cameras and NVRs, there’s no guarantee that this works out as planned, and certainly not without a large amount of configuration.
As such, while some of our network video recorders DO have ONVIF functionality built in to them, we don’t support it.
It’s not so much a power consumption issue: All of our NVR cameras draw about 5W of power, and all of our current NVR lines have built-in Power Over Ethernet switches that have enough power to accommodate any normal IP cameras – it’s just an issue of the communication between the NVR and the camera.
Hope that helps you out.
Hello Everyone, Not only have we given you a more aggressive price on this drop but now you have the option at checkout to add on additional HD HVR Cameras. @thefivetheory @mowens
Hello Everyone! Sorry about the slight confusion in the options menu. You can now purchase up to 4 additional cameras. Since we recently did a price drop on this drop and added the additional cameras we are going to extend this drop a few days to make sure everyone can take advantage of this great deal. Thanks everyone.

I've got the next model up (NVR8-7300), and I can vouch that it's quite awesome. The cameras and the NVR itself are nicely built, and the video quality is excellent. The night vision is very impressive too.
It's worth noting that the NVR8-7300 is $699 with free shipping at B&H right now, which is $100 cheaper than I paid a month ago... http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1122002-REG/swann_swnvk_873004_us_nvr8_7300_8_channel_3mp_nvr_with_4x_nhd_815.html

I actually own the model just below this model with 9 cameras and it's pretty gosh darn useful. I utilize them for my business and quality is fantastic. So far the camera's have saved me thousands in liability: A drunk driver drove into one of my vehicles; a customer of mine totaled one of my employees cars; and someone tried to break in once and i got their face on video. The on board O.S. is a little old school but reliable. Their exporting process' is a little weird but once exported facial definition is 7/10. The cheap Tv's I have don't do justice to the quality but they were on sale for $100.00 (eh eh?) so the BenQ Monitor I've got for my computer really does quite well in displaying more detail. I'm pretty stoked for these because I want THAT much more definition.
B)
The swann app is basically just for viewing (it has options for rewind but I can't use them) and as for the desktop app is the same, both are basicaly the same thing just for viewing. The cameras are pretty durable so far with the metric ton of dust flying around every day and metal shavings flying around (welding, smoke from acetylene torches, and diesel exhaust have put these cameras through hell). Here's my set up which is being updated soon with new 50" Samsung Smart TV's for optimal viewing.
For those worried about extra camera's the money you save here you can just buy extra's. When Radioshack waas liquidiating their stock I bought 2 HD Samsung Security Camera's for $50 a piece. They're usually $100.00 and the quality is equal to the swann cameras.
The included cable will probably be useless to me because my camera's run 200 Feet (yeah the quality is affected but not that much where I'm actually upset about it)
Best Buy has these for roughly $1000.0 plus tax and Fry's Electronics is similar.
The Swann tech support is stupid useful though. I called in because i had an issue with connectivity via the app and those indian bruh's were just took control of my computer (yeah i was concerned about my computers security but i put my confidence in swann) and they were able to adjust my AT&T settings super quick and with no charge what so ever.
Yeah I know this comment is super long I've had a lot of coffee, but hot damn I really am excited because I've been wanting more cameras and well, saving money is money saved am I right?
