March 20 drop: cancelled my order. I got a delayed delivery notice and decided to cancel my order. Waited long enough decided to look for something else. Anyone else go the same route?

I just picked up a FiiO M3K, highly recommend it. DAC is excellent, plays pretty much any audio file (up to insane bitrates) and can take a MicroSD with any theoretical size. Mine is loaded up with a 256GB at the moment. It can also be used as a USB DAC, which is pretty neat. And it's less than $70US. coming with a case too.
Received mine earlier this week. After a little bit of warm-up, it sounds great! But the interface is definitely laggy, and for some reason I can't get it to recognize my music (I can't just press play...I need to use the interface to navigate to a "folder" and select a specific song to get it going)...any idea of how do get it to recognize my music?

put them on the onboard storage, then it should recognize the music

I'd rather pay the same price to get an old Gigabeat or Iriver and flash Rockbox than put up with their buggy trash.
Ready to buy it for $40
Interesting that this drop keeps coming back. I made a post a while back ago about one of my friends who bought this at full retail price, direct from AR. Ended up returning the unit due to all firmware and operation issues. Shame that the company doesn't seem to have the R&D time to polish this rough diamond. When it did work for the short period of time my friend was really impressed with the sound. May be the company would be willing to give a couple of free units to select few folks out their with coding skills that can come up with replacement firmware or even reverse engineer custom firmware.

I'd be all over this if it were an 'open-hardware' product.

Ya know....I KNEW this Drop sounded vaguely familiar. THANK YOU for reiterating the 411 on this unit! I'm in the market for a digital player, but, MAYBE at 50$ for something that maybe should've "been kept in the oven longer" until these software glitches and such can be remidied. I'm keeping my cash far away from this (and, almost certainly more) Drop!
Does amyone know if the M200 supports gapless playback with the latest firmware update?
josephj69
Not according to the download section of the web site. Also looks like an issue with the latest firmware. However I want it as a player only do I will leave it on the delivered version or ar recommended version

As a user, I leave a comment. i am user who has been using this product for two weeks. What I want to say first is extremely uncomfortable. The shuffle error is so serious that I can't use it. But the company doesn't want to fix it. And there are errors about replay mode, which is also serious. The battery is far short of the specified time If I had bought this product at a regular price, I would have visited the company myself. so if you can bear this product, buy it

Nice. of you.... Warning people DO NOT BUY M200 Instead buy Colorfly C10 from Tomtop at 100$... Coupled with Rose BR5 MKII gives me the chills... Amazing sound.....

Add black case please and I'm in. Two drops already that I want it :(
Ideal portable setup my butt. No streaming?! How many of these things can exist?

Please send me a status or how to tracking my drop.
Hi, Planning to use Acoustic Research M200 with external DAC, so I thought I better ask. Would appreciate an advice. If the player is connected to an external DAC via usb, would it work as a source for DAC? Thank you!

Apologies, you are correct, I was also charged fully February 20th, I did not notice it go through my account but now see it.
daniki
I'm pretty sure it said they'll charge you when the drop ends...
Loaded mine up with my music and all it does is say “scanning for music files” when I attempt to play it.
I'm looking for tips to remove glue marks left by an ugly label affixed to the pretty back of my Colorfly c10. Which product would be effective enough without damaging sandalwood?
PatrickVincent
research orange oil, diluted. This has citric acid, but might discolor the wood.
Wait ,, this can not be a 10 year old product with aptX-HD
Welp.. We're in it now boys.
How the warranty works if I am in Hong Kong
Sorry to have said a big mistake about the operation of the speaker in class A but I had simply adopted this theory without thinking too much about how to move the coil. And thank you to the person who was able to report it to me with delicacy.

The MSRP of $399 was from 10 years ago. If it's worth $100 today, that's all it's worth. This isn't a deal. This is MD making a deal with AR to get rid of the latter's outdated stock. If you need a moderately under-powered standalone audio player (i.e. no Spotify or Tidal) then this might be for you. Personally, I'd wait for something more recent to go on sale or just get a budget Fiio player.

UHG No you tell me. Hey ,, I have a like new AR M200 for sale !!! !0 years OLD ... SERIOUSLY ,, Hell my LG V30 might sound better all ready,, just thought that the Class descrete Amp sounded OK to me.
Is it possible to connect this device to the external DAC?
Svetovid
You can to the audiolab m-dac Nano, as it is designed to be connected by Bluetooth and supports upscaling, but sadly to apt-xhd.
Why on earth class A amplification in a portable player? No wonder battery life is only 7,5 hrs...
How does this compare with the Massdrop O2 + SDAC DAC/Amp?
Load 2 more comments
They're not comparable is the point. Their limitations are too different, as a DAP doesn't have unlimited power to draw from an outlet, and the components are limited to what can fit in the body. The only thing that might be comparable is the DAC chip.

Squee
but how does it.
Quote : << Output power: 95mW +95mW@16 ohm , 13mW + 13mW @ 300-ohm >> The power output credited for this DAP seems to favour only the over-efficient IEMs or headphones as it is unusually low for this 'class' of DAP. Users owning already one or more sets of headphones should seek more information in regards to the usability of their most favoured headphones with this DAP. A workaround would be the use of a headphone amplifier thus restricting the DAP to desktop use only...

OR you can buy a Topping portable amp and rock with that. I personally use the Topping NX3s since it has a rollable op-amp...
Varmintbaby
QED... some personal sound transducers need a HP amp when connected to certain DAPs/DACs that cannot deliver enough power. However hardly a on-th-go kit...
Here's a review of the E10 IEMs. The model number on most sites (including AR's) is the E010; I assume this is the same model. While Massdrop's price of this set is a significant discount over the MSRP (player: $400, IEM: $250), I'd like to know if there are any other player/IEM combos in this price range that are comparable. I personally won't be buying this; the lack of indexing of music stored on the SD card on is a no-go for me.

How would this compare to a LG V30/40/G7 soundwise? What about something from Astell and Kern soundwise (they use a similar chip right)? How much of a difference would this be compared to a S7 Edge (as both play 24 bit Flac files to a different extent)? I am concerned about the lack of 32 bit playback and the bad UI (mainly that the Music from the SD card doesn't pop up as it should), are they still issues? Does anyone know what this can drive in Ohm levels (edit: can it really drive 300 ohms)? I am very interested in buying this and the short battery life is not an issue in my opinion.
(Edited)
  • Battery life: Up to 7.5 hours
That's pretty bad.
For the lucky owners of the Colorfly c10 or those who are still hesitating ($ 109 at Tomtop) know that after installation of the new firmware C10_20160722.zip searched on the Net and easy to install, I find myself with a great player with all the navigation faults menu have disappeared, more additional functions, the top, and still € 499 in France.

Hi... I use only sandisc microsd cards on my daps... Those are the best IMO... I have only tried 64 GB on C10 According to their site and people I have contacted it can support 128 GB easily...
C10 sure sounds great...but that build quailty...eww :p my recommendation is to use it with portable amp, like fiio a5. shanling m0 is very good DAP too, takes more time to get used to it due to small screen...but its full featured and all you need! personally i use c10+amp in home or cafe and m0 for everything else...best combo
