I would like to add this to dispel the idea of 'gaming' NVMe SSD's Almost any game WILL see a noticable reduction time betweeen a hard drive and a SATA ssd, however there is VIRTUALLY NO DIFFERENCE between game loading times on SATA and NVMe SSD's as the processor becomes the limiting factor at the SATA SSD point

Plus this is the TLC version not the MLC. You can get the MLC 512gb on Amazon for $180. The 1tb is more expensive obviously.

I've been waiting for a good NVMe deal, but this just kinda hurts to look at. For 13% higher price, a 960 EVO 1TB gets you (according to spec): 78% higher read speeds 123% higher write speeds 175% higher IOPS The only thing I would say is that perhaps this M.2 drive is much more stylish, if you're into that sort of thing.

Right. But I don't work with big files and many other buyers don't either. In terms of playing games there's not much impact between this and the Samsung. So the extra money to buy faster memory wont be very beneficial. $ to performance wise.

BoomtownYea but games wasn't the point I was making. To your point, this drive is fine for gaming and system boot since it won't make a noticeable difference. It's a good pick for this community to your point of "gamers." My point is there are much faster drives with nvme that will be a better pick for someone working in media and not just gaming. I have to imagine there are more people than just me working in media on this site. This drive is as fast as anything out there for gaming or just booting a PC. But for anything in media, samsung's nvme drives offer way faster data transfer which makes a huge difference in time it takes to export transfer or both. This drive, as you've pointed out, will be just as fast for booting your system or gaming. My point is that if your doing media, there is better in terms of data transfer out there.

Not a good deal - quick search showed only about $20 cheaper than some other websites and I don't have to wait until April to get it...

JohnnyXCGI was wondering the same thing. I have the Samsung 960 Evo 1TB and I get like 2500MB R/W in my testing.

JohnnyXCGYeah, what we really need are some WD Velociraptors! Get two fat 30 gb drives in RAID 0, and half a dozen fans to cool them, and we can fly.
