I like that it's non-GoreTex too, but I wish it came in lighter colors for hiking in the sun.

jzen0Goretex has its pros and cons. The membrane is warm and keeps water out. But it also keeps water in. So on cold and/or rainy days it's helpful. But on warm, sunny days, it's not so comfortable. It's also good for places with a lot of shallow, standing water. But as someone mentioned, the shoe will be very uncomfortable if water gets in. So imo, Goretex is best for high tops and non-Goretex for low tops.
