OK, my big question is, are they a narrow, medium or wide fitting?

Medium to Narrow
another shoe deal with no option for a guy with small feet (EU 39).
shichigatsu
Looks like there are sz 8-9s available (based on the 39 EU conversion). What is your US size?
This will be my 3rd pair but first from MD. $20 off is worth the wait while my second pair wears out. I’m a landscaper for 20+ years and haven’t found anything near as breathable and the goretex really helps with wet grass and unseen puddles.
lol $80 bucks. Just picked mine up from Costco for $36.

Those are not the GTX (waterproof) at Costco. But a good deal if you don’t live in a wet climate.
AimE
Those were the AX2s (the Swifts were not ranged by Costco). The AX2 is a solid shoe, but they have a different upper than the Swift Rs. Its a great hiking shoe for the price.
How do they compare to Merrill's?

The Moab2, which is pretty much what I've been wearing for 10+ years as an all around shoe, but looking at the upcoming Boy Scout schedule looks like will be doing 55 miles of hiking (day hikes) and 55 miles of backpacking over the next 6 months, so am looking in to alternatives. https://www.rei.com/product/113826/merrell-moab-2-vent-low-hiking-shoes-mens?CAWELAID=&cm_mmc=PLA_bng|404_1050537717||none|3c7b221b-d1d6-441c-abb3-b8804d15fa33|pla-4584894771012089:aud-806381883&kclid=3c7b221b-d1d6-441c-abb3-b8804d15fa33&msclkid=f718cb9f82241aab742597ddaa843887

At a glance, I'd say the key differences to the Moab 2 would be:
  1. Continental Rubber (I am obviously biased, but I find Conti to be the softest & grippiest rubber around), we mimic tred from their mountain biking tires
  2. Upper Fabric - We used a closed ripstop mesh upper... Compared to the moab, it will be a lower profile and most likely keep a bit more sand out of your shoes
  3. Quick-Lace - Kevlar sliding lace closure system (can be swapped out for regular lace)
Having a pair of these is wonderful. Got the saloman's and when it finally broke i went for these. It's great for my feet shape. (wider mid-foot) Same type of speed laces which is secure and easy to tie/untie. The laces are tough and abrasion resistant. Seems to be made with reinforced nylon over fishing line or something. When my current ones die off i would get in this drop. Night cargo / black is the way to go.

LOL. I didn't want to sound like a salesman though i once were. Save some money on the non goretex version, come back and get these when you like running in the rain.
bsastor
hate running period, but I like going off trail and live in the PNW
December 13th? What happened? Massdrop, hellooooo anyone there?
It's been more than a week, what's happening?
yslee
too difficult to tell us apparently. I love when my money is in limbo

The lights aren't on and nobody's home at Massdrop - I dropped them an Email on the status of the drop and it seems that they have no further info themselves. The Rep did tell me to refund if I couldn't wait though, so there's that option.
Looks like the shipping has been delayed - Massdrop, do you have any visibility on when they will be shipping?
Love, Love, Love these shoes. Please Drop again

the drop said hey
I would not buy any Adidas product from Massdrop. My last order did not come and my money was refunded. There was no limits on size or quantity for the drop and they sure accepted my money and held it for several months as the delivery date was pushed back. Adidas is a large company that should be able to fulfill their commitments but they didn't for my order.
How do owners feel about this weirdo lacing system? I have a pair of Terex that have traditional laces, which I enjoy. I'm not sure I want to take a chance on this kind of novelty.

Similar to Salomon speed laces. Simple to use, keep tension very well. Used for over 500 miles on trail, shoes will give out before laces. But i carried an extra pair on the JMT - didn't need them. Salomon's laces would be a tough replace in the field. I wouldn't hesitate to buy Salomons again. Dont know about Adidas.

Long time hiker here. I have been using these shoes for many years now. The laces are fantastic. Read the directions to shorten them if needed to prevent to much excess lace. The mechanism has never failed me.
At the checkout, which country sizing do these correspond to? it just says the number and doesn't specify either US/UK
What's the deal with the sizing being all over the map? Was about to jump on this but they don't have size 13 in any of them men's colors except for one. Am I daft and missing something? I was ready to pull the trigger!!!
Do these shoes have a shank?
size chart way off! Beware!

US Mens 9 1/2 is UK 8 1/2 is Euro 42 1/2.
I find sizing up one shoe size works best. Same for a few hiking buddies I know.
Zappos has them for $1 more, and they'll be at your door in 2 days. Free returns and all that.
JAZONG
You are referring to the AX2R which I believe is a different shoe.

I am wrong, but only half wrong.... Sort of. The non Gore-Tex version in Base Green seems to be the only version of the Swift R2 listed at that price.
These hiking shoes are definitely a good deal at this price! Also free shipping!
Are they suitable for those with flat foot?
Can I ask what was the price of these shoes?
sansan13131
After shipping for me in the Southeastern US it was $88. But before shipping it was roughly $80, best deal you could get on those exact shoes at the time as far as I could find.
Anyupdates on the drop?
For the love of gods can we do a non-GTX shoe? When backpacking, shoes will inevitably get wet, and GTX shoes take forever to dry out. Now that we have all stocked up on GTX dayhiking shoes can we throw the backpackers a bone? Altra please (no RSM, no Neoshell) :)
Does anyone know the difference between R and R2? I have an old R pair and am considering replacing them with the current model. They kept me dry and provided excellent traction, even on ice. The shoes are still in great shape after 2 years of abuse, however I have noticed that I am rolling my ankles more. I would attribute that to either uneven wear on the soles or warping from being stored in my car...
Beware the sizing chart seems a bit off. Similar to another Adidas drop the other week.
Would really like a drop for Terrex shoes without the Goretex liner. I value being able to have my footwear breathe properly, and dry out quickly if they do get wet, over having waterproofness that stops just under my ankle.
RockyMountains
I picked up a pair of non-GTX last year here. I found them sturdy, stable, light and long-lasting. They held up well on a wet Camino Primitivo this June and would have dried overnight had the humidity not been in the 80-percent range. (They dry overnight at home in western Canada where the humidity is usually under 40 percent.)
This shoe's specs are great - it would have been terrific for my recent hikes on the trails in WV - but how's the width? I'm a US 9 (all my shoes say EU 42.5, so perhaps the sizing chart for this shoe is off?) and I find the usual widths are too narrow; 4E width fits me just right.
I own a pair of these and like them. Wish I could afford 2 more pairs
On all Gore-Tex shoes, you will see that the “bubbling” of water has dissipated after several months of wear. This is the DWR finish wearing off from the shoe/boot. Since Gore is a membrane style system, the waterproofness comes from this membrane and will provide the wearer dry feet.
if you would like to protect your shoes and feet further, you can reapply the DWR finish by using a Product similar to Acr’teryx Nu or Grangers Footwear Repel and this will help with the exterior barrier.
I got a black pair, I thought I ordered green. I cant figure out if I'm wrong or right?
runs a tad big unfortunately
blueberrymann
Nvm they sent me the entirely wrong size
