Live in the Bay Area, CA. interested in inflatables for my small car, but really nervous about them because it almost doesn't even seem safe. Any input, from somebody with experience? Thanks.

Thanks for the input. I'll be holding off on this with that in mind. Is there one that you could recommend, that you'd figure is suitable for exactly what you said this one is not suitable for? lol.

LefibonacciNot from personal experience, but the Oru folding (not inflatable) kayaks have dropped here a couple times. Rather pricey but supposedly really tough. Look 'em up online for videos and reviews. Maybe one day I'll be able to justify the cost of one myself. Meanwhile I use a normal rigid kayak and a roof rack when I'm not in a pack-in situation with one of these inflatables.

seenypaulI have heard of Oru, just yes a little pricey. I'll look into them more though and see if they are considered fair for what I'm looking for. Thanks!

LefibonacciI have one along with 3 other Advanced elements kayaks. It is hard work to paddle more than a couple of miles. But great that I can stick it in my rucksack walk to the river with my son kayak a couple of miles and head home. However any chop or wind you might be in trouble. I would not take it very far from shore. Our other Advanced elements kayaks (convertible and airfusion) are in another league.

LefibonacciI have one of these, and a couple of other AE inflatables. This one would not be ideal for puttering around in the bay. An AE inflatable, like the AirFusion, or the Advanced Frame would probably work well for you. They are made robustly, and while you couldn’t just play bumper boats with them, they are rugged. I have an Advanced Frame and it is easy to put in and get out of the trunk of my car, and I can have the boat ready to launch in about 10 minutes. I have an AE paddle, though I don’t know if it’s this one or another, and it feels solid and has a good catch to it.
