Taylor your medical kit for what you think you will need. That being said this is a very good starter medical kit for an ultralight hiker. It should be assumed if you are being ultralight that you should have some measure of self reliance, this isn't something to save your life. It's for blisters, disinfecting, and minor wounds. The bag they provide (both the yellow exterior and clear interior) work well and keep things dry. I've had mine spend time submerged inadvertently and they stayed dry.
I worked as a medic for 6 years. These kits have a few items I would bring, and lack some essentials. One example: there is nothing for chafing. On the east coast, anyway, chafing knocks quite a few hikers off the trail and I always have body glide or zinc oxide ointment in my pack for a long thru hike.
