[Defective Unit?] [UPDATE]
I finally got my AI-101DA and set it up and then this: The volume suddenly jumps to a very high level and then goes back down.
After testing it a bit more it turns out the remote is the culprits.
If the volume is changed with the remote it will revert back to the one set by the knob after some time, but additionally the volume jumps to the volume set by the remote every now and then. This problem is persistent even after the unit is turned off or unplugged (for a short amount of time).
The apparent fix is to unplug it and let it rest for several minutes for the unit to discharge.
However, using the remote again leads to the same issue.
Contacting massdrop support, they replied timely and offered to either send the unit back or to keep the unit and get a small refund.
As the unit seems otherwise fine I gladly took the refund.
tecHuntI bought my 101DA yesterday (not via MD) and connected it directly when I got home.
It sounded good for a few minutes but then it only output properly sound directly after a cold boot and without touching the volume control.
If the control is touched the digital processing fails and it begins output extremely strange EQ'ed, distorted and filtered sound.
Same problem occurs over BT, USB and line in both over speakers and headphone output.
I don't know if this is a software or hardware failure but it will go back on monday.
You better stay away from me because I'm bad luck.
My first Tascam field recorder I bought was DOA and now my first Teac is a DOA as well. :/
tecHuntWhat was the refund amount? Can they not reduce the price by this amount instead? Or it's the case that until users don't notice, shove it down!
tecHuntJust under 12 months, issue only started a few weeks ago, however today it got to the point where I've had to contact support just now to report the issue. Hopefully it won't be a PITA considering I am in Australia.
