shame I had too much doubt about voltage of this unit to join it as really wanted to tidy up my desktop with an all in one. Then I read about the other issues with volume etc by others on here and just could not bring myself to join up. Will just have to wait gor a good quality all in one desktop DAC, speaker and headphone amp.

PerthJMI can only say that I love this TEAC amp/DAC. My system is in near-field on this desktop, and I had various speakers being powered by it, sufficient for enjoyable listening. Now, with a pair of high-efficiency Klipsch 160m's and an SVS PB-2000 sub, the sound is incredible. Waaaay more juice than needed, and that's long before any clipping or distortion occurs.
If you have hard-to-drive speakers/headphones you might want to do as I'm doing and get an Emotiva pt-100 pre-amp and either the a-100 Flex amp ( possibly the most powerful headphone amp, and certainly the most powerful at $230, as they supply jumpers you can easily apply to the headphone output stage, which then allow ALL 50 watts to output to your headphones. My HD6XX's would fare just fine, but 320hm 'phones would blow up if you weren't careful with the volume knob.) or the A-300, 150w/ch., 2-channel amp.
