As pointed out in the video in the Overview, the media controls and volume knob are almost exactly the same off-the-shelf parts as used on the Das Keyboard: https://www.daskeyboard.com/daskeyboard-4-professional/ (except this has a lighting button in place of a sleep toggle) As someone using the Das 4 right now:
  • The volume knob is ridiculously useful (even if the tactile feedback isn't really there)
  • The other media buttons are just okay, no weight or decent button response
  • If your fixed USB cable ever breaks (hello cats!) you can take it apart and run a USB Micro-B SuperSpeed directly into the small PCB the media controls sit on.

H2WhoahHell, the case is almost the same part as on the das keyboard 4. The extension on the upper right corner was removed, and the bottom shell was angled to make up for the lack of removable footbar, but otherwise it's the same look.

nightdivineI have a Das Keyboard with one of these volume knobs. Assuming it behaves the same on this board, it has this soft tactile feel that I really enjoy, and it’s convenient to have it hanging over the edge of the keyboard for easy access. It’s actually more convenient than regular old buttons or keys for volume control. Anyway, it wouldn’t be a selling point and sway my keyboard decisions today if I were comparing a Das to something else, in most situations.

nightdivineThis is a feature I bought with my Azio M80 - The knob has literately changed my thoughts on keyboards and I will never buy another without it. Being able to change the volume without anything more than a simple movement of my right hand is game changing. It sound silly, but I can now lower and increase the volume with such ease, no leaning forward to the big knob on my sound system, or finding it in the task tray on my computer. Just turn the knob... Looks wise, I really like the way it looks. I just wish I had $90 laying around so I could afford it.
nightdivineif you can find one of these around i'd highly recommend it, a Griffin PowerMate. i have a couple of them and theyre fantastic. it can act as a bunch of media keys all in one because you can map things like a short press down, long press down, press and turn right, press and turn left for example. you can map them to be program specific or universal windows functions too, so if you want to use it for photoshop specific things you can and it will just switch to those functions once the program is active. the software has several preprogrammed functions and you can have it pass Macros/Keypresses of your choice too for more customization. i mainly use mine to control winamp so i can control volume with turns, play/pause with a quick tap, move through playlist with a hold press and turn. just a super simple way to control things. and its got a decent weight and feel to it too, so it feels good using it too. by default it just controls windows volume though, a very basic function but nice to have available where i can move it around to where it is most convenient at the time vs always stuck on the keyboard. bad thing is they dont really actively support it much anymore for some reason. they made a fancy new bluetooth version a couple years back but its mac only... which is infuriating because id love to have a wireless version but do not and will not ever own a mac. But, the old version 2.0.1 software works great on win10 so im good to go still. there are still some of these out there for sale occasionally. i should probably start hoarding them in case one of mine breaks... or find a suitable replacement that is newer. anyways, i love this little thing, been using for years with no problems. just so handy to have available. https://www.amazon.com/d/Computer-Cables/Griffin-PowerMate-Multimedia-Control-Computers/B01HDRW910/ref=sr_1_5?
