Hi I'm looking to pick these up but I'm not sure if i'll need/want a DAC/amp. I currently have the ASUS Xonar Dgx PCI card. I guess I'm looking for some Canadian links to a DAC/amp hopefully under $200, but I'd rather buy something good than buy something that I'll want to upgrade later.
Also for reference the current audio I'm used to is the Sennheiser g4me one (with amp) & the AKG 845BT.

G-CrakaHey there, These headphones have an impedance of 32 ohms. The amplifier on a common music player such as an iPod will be sufficient for loud music to be played. If that's all you care about, then no, you don't need an amp. That said, buying audiophile headphones and not amping them is like buying a sports car and only using it in crowded cities. I have no idea why anyone would buy audiophile equipment if they never really planned on getting the most out of their purchases. Tell us a little about your situation, such as whether you're looking into portable amping or desktop amping and what kind of music you listen to, and then I'm sure I or someone else can recommend a good DAC/Amp.

JordanYaDiggWhat kind of portable player are you using? What kind of music do you listen to?
For the record you're asking something akin to "What's the best headphone for less than $200?" Every Audiophile is going to have their own preferences. I like FiiO but a lot of people like Schiit or Creative, etc. Need more details from you for a good recommendation.
For my piece I'm planning to drive them with my FiiO E11K amp, but I'm running it with a Galaxy Note that has the Wolfson DAC so I don't feel the need for an upgrade on the DAC for portable. If I needed the DAC I'd probably be using the FiiO E18.

TastyPastryHi thanks for the reply. I think I'd rather have a desktop DAC, but I wouldnt mind seeing the best moblie option either. I also don't care about sound being played incredibly loud either. I mainly listen to EDM (with vocals), and rap.

G-CrakaIf you think you'd spend most of your time listening at your desktop, then by all means grab a desktop amp. Currently on Massdrop is a great price for the Objective 2 desktop amp + Obective DAC. I was going to recommend the classic Schiit stack (Magni 2 + Modi 2), but I personally think the Creative stack is probably a better overall value, and it's manufactured to be a single unit, making many things easier. Check it out. It also has a very good range of driving capability, being powerful enough to allegedly drive 600 Ohm headphones. The O2 setup isn't necessarily for bassheads, however, so if that's what you would define yourself as, then maybe it's worth looking at a few other options.
As for portable options, if that's what you choose to use, I think you can't really go wrong with an E18/E17. If you're driving off a mobile device like an iPod, and you cannot really utilize the DAC, then save yourself some money and grab an E11/E11K.
