I got mine yesterday. For some senseless reason, I've been lusting after this AKG K267 Tiesto headphone for quite some time.
Listening to it now, plugged into my Schiit stack: Lyr 2 Hybrid with a pair of stock B6Z7 tubes and Bitfrost Multibit.
Initial impression: impressively bright and fun sound from low to high volume levels. No, scratch that--this headphone, the AKG K267 Tiesto, is erotic in more ways than one!
On Studio setting, the lows (as expected) is strong, masculine and well-built in a really sexy kind of way, giving the whole soundscape a tinge of erotic warmth, confidently cradling an unabashedly forward and prominent multi-layered mids, balanced by luscious and exciting but well-behaved highs.
Be warned: this headphone sounds so seductive and hypnotic that you'll be lured to want to hear more and more, and you will be very tempted to turn the knob to dangerously higher and higher volume to feed a growing, seemingly endless aural desire. It sounds wholly orgasmic at a really high volume. You're not going to just tap your feet, drum your fingers, or bob your head. Your whole body will move with uncontrollable spasmodic desire. (If you dare, just listen to the 9-minute "Narvas" track by Juno Reactor and Don Davis from the "Matrix Revolutions: The Motion Picture Soundtrack " album.)
Of course, you need to exercise stern, puritanical self-restraint, realizing that before long, it will raise you up to an altered state of being and tear at you, creating physical damage to your hearing first of all, and yes, possibly damaging your self-esteem as well.
Now, if you want to really push it to the edge, listen to that same "Narvas" track at Club setting. The very core of your soul will be damned!
And if you find yourself teetering on the edge, about to lose sanity, the only way to gently come back to your senses is by listening to something else entirely, maybe something familiar, maybe a soft solo acoustic guitar or a solo piano, at Stage setting.
With this headphone, all I can say is, "Wow!"
