Why let manufacturers off the hook for bad design? Onkyo & VModa (to name two of many) offer detachable cables for similar models in this price range. AKG does not "have" to charge more for this basic feature. Plus you void the AKG warranty by recabling.

Rosebud41I agree, I read online that AKG K553 Pro is similar to the Audio-Technica MSR7, Sony MDR1A and the Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 . The MSR7/MDR1A have a removable cable. (Both are closed ear, and isolate outside noise.) If they charged extra for a removable cable jack, I'd gladly pay for that feature. Heck, I'd be happy buying my own cable if it just added a port on this thing. Ironically, while I can easily mod a headphone, I'm hesitant to do so when that invalidates the warranty.

Rosebud41These shouldn't really come with a detachable cable though. They aren't for portable use nor expensive enough to worry about the cable dying on you. In which case you can use that warranty or better yet recable yourself...
