Hmm...how sturdy is this headset? I am usually very rough with my headsets, so I want something to last me a while with a good build quality, but preferably I do not want the cost to go above $150.
I was thinking of getting a usb headset or maybe (if they exist) a headset with a detachable auxiliary cord. So if I break the end of the cord (which killed many of my headsets), I could just replace the cable.
Lasty I would prefer the headset to be over-the-ear.
Does anyone have any recommendations?

FlameRunnerFastI've been using mine for a little over a year now in day to day usage. They've held up well (Albeit I'm not really the kind of person to throw my headphones around) , but the pleather on the pads has started to crack and fall off. If you want cheap headphones with a detachable cord and under $150, maybe look into the AKG K240 or M220s. They're stupid cheap, have aftermarket pads available, and are made from mostly plastic that has some give.

FlameRunnerFastI have the smaller 545, and there build as a rock. I frequently fall asleep with them on and on far so good. The 545 do have removable cables though, and I see how the 553 have that week point to consider

electrozity8Hey there. I just found out the k240 pads fit on the k553. Feel free to view my later comment to see a pic. Same boat as you on the stock ear pads

MooseGooseThanks for the recommendation! The 545 is $119 on Amazon so I'll get that one. Yeah, up until now I've only had "gaming headsets" that are fine, but not prefered.

FlameRunnerFastIf you are looking for portable solid headphones the 545 are best. If you're gonna keep them home go for the 550

FlameRunnerFastAlthough these may be a gaming headset, they are a good value considering the current price vs original msrp. I would recommend the turtlebeach PX51. Sound good, can connect to 3 different sources (4 of you use both the composite and optical on the transmitter), optionally wireless with an all day battery.

Munster19I would...but I don't trust Turtle Beach to have sturdy headsets...and a quick look at the PX51's Amazon page almost immediately showed a review complaining about how their PX51 broke.
Thank you for the recommendation, but please take in mind I value durability more than anything else.

FlameRunnerFastWell all I'm saying is that theyre good headphones(their original price was like 250 or so, down to 100), and i have not been kind to them. Just giving you options from more places than the likes of Sennheiser(may be good, but i cant speak from experience). In any case, have a good day. 👍
