FWIW, I owned a K701 and K601 in the past. And my fav. pairing was the K601 with K701 pads - made them more comfortable, didn't have bumps, and it had a bit more bottom end. Also because it was less revealing, it was a more mellow and enjoyable sound for 85% of the listening I did. It ended up being in my headphone stable the longest.
