Can someone please clear up if there's only 2,000 of these ever being produced or 6,000? Description says 6,000 so does that mean there's for sure going to be a later drop if I can't make up my mind right now?

Ebekenezer_TuskayThere are 6000 being made. This drop is 2000 of them. Therefore there will definitely be at least one more drop for these sometime in the future.

DatBassieThat's exactly why I was asking! We need a big clarification for this. Someone posted AKGs response and it says only 2k were made, but massdrop says 6k are made. Which one is the right production number?

Ebekenezer_TuskayThere are 6,000 K7XXs being made as part of this First Edition production run. There are 2,000 already done and on the way to us. The remaining 4,000 will be produced and dropped as demand dictates.
From the looks of it all 2000 will sell before tomorrow so I'm talking with AKG right now about when we can deliver the remaining 4000. It definitely won't be in-time for Christmas (only the first 2000 units will be delivered to american addresses in time for Christmas, no guarantees for internationals) but we're working on getting the dates.

Ebekenezer_Tuskay6k total will be made, with 2k for the initial production run. When the next runs come up, I've no clue, but next year is a good bet.

Willhey since u made these, cld u clarify if they are based on the 702 65th annies or k712? drop description implies 65th, but some ppl on this thread r suggesting k712. thxs! :)

WillAwesome. Thanks for clarifying that. So these headphones are limited to 6k or there will be unlimited versions of the k7xx? I don't mind either way, I am just wondering if the actual headphone is exclusive or the exclusivity is the First Edition-ness of the headphones.

That said, I expect demand will remain high (especially as the first units arrive, more reviews come out, and more people realize the price to performance ratio on these) so there's a possibility for more K7XX in the future.
That said, only the first 6000 will be branded as Massdrop First Edition. All future runs will stick with the standard limited edition format.

I am assuming you had a chance to play with them? What's your opinion about driving them without using Amps or DACs?
