I need to get an amp for this since I don't have one, but I need some help since I'm new to amps and really good headphones. Should I get the Schiit Magni, the Yulong that's currently available, or the portable Fiio E17? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Errolord_404Get the Asgard 2. It is worth the extra money and goes very well with these. I have both. The E17 is a portable amp and these are open phones. A bit of contradiction don't you think so? Also, they are LARGE. I would not get the Yulong. Personal opinion. Have you thought about the tube Little Dot 1+. I have that and it is very sweet with my 702s.

DABTPAI would love to get the Asgard 2, but I don't exactly have the dough and enough reason to convince myself to spend over $150 dollars on an Amp. Although everyone says all these great things about these amps, I'm assuming that the law of diminishing returns is also true here. I'm trying to get the best bang for my buck, and I don't think that the extra $160 could possibly be worth it. Then again, I could be wrong, since I have no experience at all with amps, or anything audiophile other than my HD280s. Would the Yulong suffice? I understand that you have your opinion about them, but could I get by with them?
Thanks for the Help DABTPA!

DABTPAGood to know, as I also will be using a ' Little Dot' tube amplifier ( but, a mk III ) . Guess, " great minds, think alike ! " lol ;) But for the Immediate Future; the DAC end of a Fiio - E07k with a " L7" adapter to allow the Tube Amp interface versus the Internal Amp of the Fiio (or Their Dock - style Amp E09k : which is made for Desktop use with either the " current drop " E17 or the E07k). What DAC would you recommend as a possible Upgrade, from the 'Fiio's. Hopefully, $200 or less ???

Errolord_404After doing some research I spoke too soon. The specs on the Yulong look very good and the price is great right now through Massdrop. You also might consider the Little Dot 1+ which I also own. I spent an extra $40 on the Russian Voshkod tube upgrade as the factory tubes are too bright. I just ordered the Little Dot 3 and will sell my 1+ cheap so email me (dabjhs72@msn.com) if you get interested. Read all the reviews on the net (including Head Fi) on the 1+. It is very good. It currently drives my 702s beautifully. I am just getting a bigger/better Little Dot.

RoaroftheTigerMy mark 3 is on the way. The review in Head Fi is unreal. Can't wait. Your question is a bit out of my league. I do find it odd you would want to mix solid state with tubes unless I just don't understand what you are trying to do. Music Direct sent me an email about a NuForce DAC reduced from $600 to $300. That kind of price reduction always catches my eye.

Errolord_404Email Schiit to see if the Magni would work. The 701/702s (which is what these really are close to) can be finicky with certain loads. Email Yulong too to get their opinion. They won't be celebrating turkey day.

Errolord_404Just read the reviews on the Yulong on Head Fi. Four reviews all with 5 stars. The amp is ranked #11 on their list. Pretty impressive.
