What's a good portable Fiio DAC+AMP for this? I'm only limited to Fiio products as those are the ones available locally. Thanks!

neiru37+1 on the E17, you can not go wrong with that unit, I currently run my ATH-M50X with it not needed but it cleans up my laptop audio so well I am enjoying listening to music more than ever..
The AKG K7XX will be my second high grade headphone purchase, I figure I already have a close back set and I like to listen to an open back to understand first hand what the differences in "Sound Stage" are.
Plus with the E17 you can also later on get the E09 and have a dedicated desktop amp/DAC setup..
Good luck with whatever you choose to get..

Paul.MWhy the e17 though over the e18?

neiru37I chose the E17 over the E18 because the E17 has more input options.. For example the SPDIF plug supports up to 24Bit/192K data using the included Coaxial or the Optical adapters. another option I liked was the gain levels can be changed between 0>6db>12db (The E18 can only do 0>6db as far as I know).
The E18 has lots of nice features too you are able to charge your phone with the power from the E18's battery in case you need to.
But the main reason for me was that the E17 has the option of changing the Bass and Treble, So if I use a headphone that is has too much base I can reduce it or increase it if I want; as well as the treble if it's to harsh I can mellow it out. That was my main reason for getting the E17. (and the great reviews too ;) ) in the end I am very happy with it and I have recommended it to anyone that asks.
Granted the E18 has a "better" DAC chip and it slimmer and better battery, those were not enough to make me chose the E18.

Paul.MI second the E17 recommendation... I use it at work with the E09K and together they can drive anything you throw at them. My friend got the DT-880 pro 600 ohms from Massdrop and all his dacs at work sounded anemic. I powered up my E17/E09K combo and man oh man those cans were a singing with plenty of headroom to spare. I'm on the loud side of the listening spectrum... I even unclicked the gain switch on the back of the E09K and was still satisfied with the listening levels... The outboard power supply of the E09K makes for a nice black background as well... Can't go wrong with that combo...
Peace...
