Got an update. Mine will be here on Friday! I can't wait to compare with the Q701's from my last drop. Loves the Q's, but I think these will fix the biggest issue I had with them. NO DAMN BUMPS! I will be driving them with an Aune T1 (with a Genalex Gold Lion tube) and a Matrix M-Stage amp which have performed brilliantly with the Q701's. I am filled with anticipatory glee! :)

ibbilboHow much of a difference does that tube make to the sound? I also have an Aune T1 (version 1) with a Q701 and I've been considering tube upgrades. Also, I'm really excited about not having those bumps too!

u_231492The Genalex Gold Lion has a very warm round sound with a fantastic sound stage. It really calmed the somewhat strident upper mids that the Q701's can sometimes have. IMO the Aune, by itself, doesn't really have the juice to drive the Q's properly. I first tried a Bravo Audio Ocean with a JJ Electronics gold pin, but the combo of the tube dac and the tube amp was too much. Way too warm for my ear. The Matrix was a much better pairing. Given the anticipated sound signature of the K7XX's, the Matrix alone may be the ticket. We'll see. :)

ibbilboI'm thinking about buying a Corda Jazz and using the Aune as the DAC for it. The Jazz has been said to be really clean and transparent, so I figure the tube on the Aune would really shine with something like that.

u_231492That's the ticket. Nice powerful, transparent amp with some tube rolling to fine tune to perfection. Eargasm. :)
