Edit: Oh god, mine have the "bass rattle". Left earcup. You can hear it even in subsonic frequencies as the driver actuates back and forth, all the way up to around 200hz.
Here is a short demo (just a few seconds) that will immediately tell you if your headphones have the issue: http://picosong.com/5qgZ
This track is not harmful in any way-- it just plays a simple sine wave from around 10hz up to about 300hz or so. If you hear anything (crackling, shaking, rattling) besides clean pure bass, then something is wrong.
That is such a bummer. I have an incorrect serial# (637 instead of within 300) and a rattle too, I have sent an email to support; hope they get back to me soon.
Without even knowing him, I'm fairly certain he is contacting support 99% because of the rattling, and yes, people are really going to kick up a fuss over rattling.
He was talking about both. Had it been just a serial number error, I wouldn't be so fussed out but seeing that it's got that rattling noise as well I can see why he'd want to contact support over it.
The serial# might be important to some people. It is to me too. But what breaks the deal is the rattle I'm hearing with my set. I just found out that my set has some wires jutting out from the mini-XLR jack area. Look out for photos soon.
