Schiit Vali or FiiO E10K to Power K7xx?
Just got the K7xx and found out that my motherboard doesn't provide enough power for the K7xx. I keep the volume on my pc to 100% to get a half decent immersive sound. So its enough to get buy, but I find myself reaching for the volume button on my keyboard a lot.
So...I heard that the Schiit Vali is a great pair with the K7xx due to giving these detailed headphones a little "warmth" (being hybrid). But I only have roughly $100 to spend, so that gives me no room for a DAC. But, my motherboard's integrated audio has an "isolated" pcb and a direct power from the PSU instead of drawing power from the main motherboard power source. Would a DAC still be necessary?
If the answer is YES, then how about going with the FiiO E10K DAC/AMP combo? Would it be powerful enough to drive the K7xx with plenty of volume left over? I know that every ear is different, but in GENERAL I want to have a "comfortably loud" volume at roughly 50-65% and an "UNcomfortably loud" volume at roughly 70-90%

QuadXEven though your motherboard's audio has an isolated pcb and direct power, it would be ideal to keep the audio signal in the digital realm (USB, optical, coaxial) until the amplification stage - whenever possible. With this in mind, the FiiO E10K DAC/Amp would be an excellent choice. It should have plenty of power for the K7XX. You might also consider a portable DAC/amp - like the FiiO E18 or E17K - which you could use with a smart-phone or portable music player.

QuadXHey... did you receive your headphones from the 3rd, most recent drop already? If so, how did they come? USPS, UPS? Thanks.

QuadXFor $100 also consider the Monoprice desktop headphone amp and the Schiit Fulla.

travelinjackso yes, ended up going the the monoprice desktop headphone amp for the awesome price. Monoprice is running a 15% entire purchase for the month of March. So got the dac/amp for about 83 bucks!
Thanks for all the advice!
