This my first drop and I'm pretty excited about it. I've been a Shure IEM user for years from the E3c to the SE846. I'm currently using the RHA T20i as my daily driver and this is my first set of open cans. I have 2 questions 1. Where does Massdrop ship from? 2. about how long is the shipping time once they drop? Thanks

DJ2ndThe order came from Pennsylvania, takes about 2 weeks after drop completes. Nothing really to get excited about these though... Sennheiser are still a better bet, even in the $100 +/- range. The hd598's are a very decent set of cans.

XpfreakI'm specifically looking for soundstage and imaging and from the reviews these are some of the best at this price range even better than the HD650.

DJ2ndyou are not gonna be dissappointed with these(hopefully), from all the reviews i've seen, these have the widest and the best soundstage, that's what i was looking for too.

XpfreakHere's a great unbiased review from an owner of both. As I said before the soundstage of the K7XX is what drew me to them so I should be very satisfied with them. I probably will get the HD6XX the next time it drops. http://www.head-fi.org/t/755497/sennheiser-hd650-vs-akg-k7xx

DJ2ndYes perhaps a "nice" sound stage, however when listening to the same music through the HD555 & HD 598 C s, these sound more neutral as it was probably recorded, with a good sound stage as well (perhaps not as pronounced since they try to play the music as recorded), the AKG sounds "veiled" or "subdued", as if in a bubble. The Sennie's definitely feel way better than the AKG cans (there is an awful lot of clamping force from the headband, causing ear discomfort even though these are over the ear for comfort & coverage) Even a recently acquired set of Philips SHP9500s from Newegg for less than $55.00 sound more realistic than the AKG cans. Z reviews did a review on these & finds that they perform just as well if not better than some of those overpriced headphones out there. Calls the Philips SHP 9500 aka Z Review - Philips SHP9500 (AKA F'n Amazeballs). Another impressive inexpensive headphone is the Superlux HD668B 2x50ohms from amazon @ less than $37.00 ( Superlux HD668B Dynamic Semi-Open Headphones) 4.5 stars, 735 customer reviews. Reviews don't lie. Listening through these sounds just like the AKG's (really) with way less clamping force on the ears... Just gotta remember if something is hyped, it's usually overrated as well as overpriced...When Massdrop offers the Sennheiser 6XX model massdrop version again, I will be in line to aquire a set of those! These normally sell for around $300 as the Sennheiser brand. So I think @ $199.99 that will be a fantastic price, and NOT made in China either.

XpfreakInteresting everything you've said I've read the opposite on head-fi Z Reviews and other reviews. Here's the link to the comparison. I guess the link did not post. http://www.head-fi.org/t/755497/sennheiser-hd650-vs-akg-k7xx

DJ2ndThanks for the link, nice write up from this fellow, if you look at the end of the review, his go to cans are the Sennheiser! Guess in the end it is strictly personal taste & very subjective. Only one self can make the absolute decision of what's best for the individual, hey hey kudos for freedom of choice...

XpfreakIt is all about choice and he said for him its a tie but for other people he gave it to the HD meaning they are in no way on two different planets. I'm listening off my Fiio E18 and with no burn in they sound very good out of the box.
