I just got mine and they require A LOT of power. My Little Dot MKIII (OTL amp) does not have enough power to drive these. I believe the issue is with the sensitivity of this set. Dip switch changes do not make a difference and the dial has to be cranked to 9 in order to get high volume. The cans don't even distort at full volume with the MKIII.
However, when paired with a SMSL SD 793II these cans sound great. Crystal clear, bright, and crisp with wide soundstage. They sound really good (but low volume) straight out of an iPhone 7 as well.
typically OTL amps have a high output impedance and are not designed to work well with headphones under 250ohm. These headphones are 62 ohm, so they tend to work best with solid state amps.
These headphones have a 105db/V sensitivity, which is pretty good overall. Not the highest, but definitely good enough to be driven from a lot of stuff out there.
