supasbSame situation as yours and I don't think that it is a bad decision actually. The HD650 or the HD6XX are widely praised for a reason. Hope some enthusiast will bring more insightful suggestions. After all, it's all base on personal preference.

Z0d1AcI think he meant by choosing the Sennheiser HD6XX over the AKG K7XX which is a part of this discussion.

BaconM97Oh, my mind was clouded, forgot I was under the k7xx thread.
Either the k7xx or 6xx would be much better than 50xs. Which one is better? I don't know, but I will have 6xx to compare in about a month.

supasb@supasb i would love to know your feedback of the hd6xx. I own a pair of M50xs and am pleased with it. But am looking for a good budget open back alternative too.

supasbI've had the HD600 and HD650 and I think the m50 is terrible by comparison.

supasbThe sennheiser 6xx sounds way better than the Akg 7xx. the m50x is garbage compared to the other two. If you like deeper bass the sennheiser are the way to go but i heard the akg are better if you like clarity and also good for games. im still waiting for my senns to come. going to pair it up with dac and amp to get the most of them. schiit fulla combo

DarkphoenixI picked up a pair of akg 712s because they're better for gaming. I'm sure the 650s are decent but from the research I did the AKG are better for gaming + music whereas the 650s are amazing for music. They are commfortable and has little ear fatigue after several hours of use.

MetallicusTry Philips SHP9500, they sound unreal. I can't believe they cost only around 70 bucks!   My ATH - M50 s now collect dust. Other open back , not so budget, but still very cheap  is Beyer DT 990.

SoundzSHP 9500 are very good for only $50.
Clear, detailed, good imaging and soundstage they are also have very good comfort and build quality. They sound like $200 headphones, but their downsides are that they have no bass and the highs are a bit sharp. If you mod and/or eq (bass boast) these are the best budget headphones I have tried/had.

DarkphoenixHD6xx has deeper bass than 7xx? I haven't heard them, but my 7xx has plenty of low bass. I think more would be worse.

MetallicusI received the hd6xx and man are they ever better than the m50x. Soundstage is a lot better, clarity is better too. When listening to classical music like mozart or even progressive rock like pink floyd its just so much better.
