Mine arrived yesterday (but just got hands on them this morning). Been listening to the K553Pro from the other drop, and while these are slightly more open and wide (being open-backed) the sound wasn't impressive (I'll spare you my attempts to describe sounds...) using them on a 'listening test songs' playlist I use for headphones. (I also have had some AKG K501s I've been listenging to for years, so I am generally an AKG fan.) Running them through a few hours with JLap Audio Burn-In File at the moment and hoping that wakes them up a bit, and given the constricted kind of sound I was hearing I think there's a shot it will. I'll report back.
Update: OK, after 20 min or so (not enough usually for burn-in to have any effect) I couldn't resist listening some more. My best guess is these are defective - there are layers of mashed-potatoes across the sound spectrum and if you blind-folded me and told me these were $35 sony headphones bought in the airport, I'd suggest you go get the $35 back. These can't be what AKG-7xx sound like out of the box. Going to leave them burning while I go out for 5-6 hours and see what happens. Love to hear what others think out of the box... BTW, testing on iphone, mac, and Pono.

cdanuloffEh maybe you aren't giving them enough juice. Haven't gotten my hands on mine because of the public holiday and all but these are notoriously hard to drive.

jrkongIt's pretty decent to drive these been running them through my motherboard since the first drop with no soundcard and it's been fine, although I just bought a Schiit stack to really bring them to there full potential.
