MadHouseI feel that AKG supplies crap cables. Anything the DIY community makes is much better from my experience. Also don't waste too much money on cables.
Zombie_XActually, I got my first and only AKG k240 headphones...around 13ish years ago, wore them almost everywhere, and only upgraded to the k712 last year (still continue to wear the k240s on the street, though). Throughout that entire time, I've only bought one cable and that was only because I got tired of the 6' long straight cable and got the coiled version.
The headphones, on the other hand, well...the side plates/stickers with the logo and L/R fell off, the pads were replaced four times (now have the velour ones instead of the pleather), the elastic bands have also broken (due to my negligence) and have been replaced with hair ties, and the logo on the headband has completely worn off. Amazingly, they still sound fine, but the k712s blow 'em away in that department.
Anyway, I'd say that the cable is pretty good to survive all the abuse for over a decade. It's not worth $90, but I think $20-30 is about right.
