I am thinking about ordering some "replacement" parts from AKG for these headphones. For example, it looks like the outer headband on these is plastic, whereas the AKG K701/K702 has a metal outer headband. Looking at this part sheet: http://www.akg.com/media/db/8428/ I think I want to order a 2458M16980. Will probably want some other replacement parts once I see these in person.
Anyone have any thoughts on this? Think it's a good idea? Bad idea?

benburtonThe outer headband in all the K700 series is always a pair of plastic covered steel arches, since they also are the electrical conductors that power the right can. It could be there are variances in stifness, thickness etc across models/years.

nestorddThanks for the tip. I was looking at Z's Review and based on this particular bit:

I assumed that the outer headstrap for these was of lesser build quality than other AKGs.
