Well my Q701s are green and match my color scheme with my computer. Black and green. So mine and the K7xx are pretty much the same? Other than visual there are no other differences? What about pads? Is it possible to change a open ear headphone to a closed ear from replacing pads?

RandySThere is a difference between the K7XX and the K701, but I wouldn't spend the money on a pair of K7XX unless you plan on selling your K701's. Personally, I couldn't justify spending that much money on a minor change. Your K701's are plenty fine.
A closed headphone VS a open headphone has nothing to do with pads, so no, you can't change a open back headphone to a closed back by switching out the pads.
