$650 MSRP my ass, they are slightly tuned K702's that retail for $250, you could at least be honest about that part.

SomedudemanThey're probably trying to compare it to the 65th anniversary edition which cost a lot more. But these are nowhere near the quality of true AKG Austria made headphones as they are made in China. People complained about the clicking and popping of the left driver because of the plastics. Surprised they're dropping this and the red version at the same time. I think the red version looks ugly.

6EQUJ5lol I have a pair of austria-made k712s. Gotta say they sound good. Also i agree with you, the red is ugly. The gray/black is much better.

UzuzuIt's all-black, and looks rather drab imo. Most AKG cans are now manufactured in china

siidheeshI'm sorry you feel that way Siidheesh AKG K7XX are a masterpiece of sound and quality ! Perhaps you'll be more inclined to purchase Beats headphones for there style and color and pretend that they don't sound so crappy !!!

Nivek76Dude, I didn't say they sounded crap. I said the red version looked better than the all-black version IN-MY-OPINION. Therefore, I dropped for the red K7xx instead. Read before commenting, Nivek. As for being manufactured in china, do you take offence at the truth? Did I imply a loss in audio quality? No. Only build quality.

siidheeshI like the look of the red and black K7XX but keep vacillating between being pleased with the color and thinking the all-black version would merge better with my rig and decor. Still haven't decided; seven hours to go. Love the red headphone cable that comes with the red version, too.

VarholiaglimpThe cable for the red K7xx is also black if I'm not wrong (as seen in the pics), but alas, these will hopefully get redropped eventually (no jinx)

siidheeshsiidheesh: When I wrote that, I'd just watched a review on YouTube (linked below) in which the cable was red. Are you saying that the reviewer used a third-party cable? I was surprised to see it as well even though different-colored variants are sold on ebay. I just wouldn't have expected to see it in a review.

VarholiaglimpProbably was an aftermarket cable. MKBHD's review of the red version sported a black cable too. I've seen many reviewers use aftermarket cables haha, with hifiguy528 recommending an $800 cable for the $200 k7xx.

siidheeshMy point was that generally, when reviewers are showcasing a product for the first time (in this case, the red version of the KX77), they tend to want readers/viewers to see what's in the box. This particular review was in Italian, and my grasp of that language is xie xie, or sheh-sheh (as they say phonetically in Mandarin; it means thank you, but it's also a way of referring to someone's rudimentary grasp of the language), so it's possible the reviewer mentioned the difference.
Still, a review of a cosmetically new product isn't the same as a review later in the cycle, and reviewers who mention aftermarket cables tend to mention the fact. I say that as a person who has written my share of reviews over the past twenty years and has been a Head-fi member since it's moo-hanking exception. (If you were around then, it's possible you'll recognize me from the previous sentence's hyphenated compound adjective.)

VarholiaglimpErm... the red cable he used isn't 3m long as the cable is said to be, and the actual included 3m black cable is seen in the background before that. I haven't been around that long haha :) As for reviewers and reviewing, everyone has their own style I guess

siidheeshI've tried to allow for your POV in all of my responses to you, siidheesh. In my previous post, I agreed with your idea that the red cable could be third party but pointed out that the functional purpose of most early-adopter reviews is to tell prospective buyers what's in the box -- including the cable. I'm not sure what point you're trying to make beyond that distinction, but I'm fairly certain that whatever disagreement we might have is Lilliputian (i.e., insignificant).

VarholiaglimpI'm just not sure what point you're trying to make either lol. It seems that we do, however, agree on the issue of included cabling, so let's call it at that? And if we do disagree, then we agree to disagree? Cheers :D
