I'm sure someone has brought this to light already, but where are these manufactured? It simply states AKG, but no location is given.

smpr0Making some research, including head-fi, they say it's made in China. They are analogue to the K712 with the difference that they're assembled in China, not Austria. Some plastic structuak pieces are used in order to drop the price without sacrificing sound quality.

FlufThank you for the info. I had seen the breakdown on Head-Fi, but I had seen that some models were manufactured at different places at different times, so thank you for clearing that up.

FlufThat video was definitely informative. I'm now torn between buying these, or a pair of Beyerdynamic DT770s. Build quality is always a concern of mine, and I don't want a $214 (that's including tax) pair of headphones dying on me.

smpr0I can feel you, but the thing for me is getting a pair of comfortable, neutral headphones. I think the AKG K7XX does offer these points, specially comfort-wise. I am not an expert, but Iguess whatever floats your boat. There is a channel in youtube called Sonic Sense Pro Audio (https://www.youtube.com/user/SonicSenseProAudio) they are not uploading videos anymore, but through their channel and through their soundcloud account, they upload different headphone tests, and there's A LOT of tests in their soundcloud for different headphones. Try and look for your Beyerdynamic model at their youtube channel because they offer comparisons between different headphones and you do find differences in sound. My recommendation is go to either Soundcloud or Youtube, listen to the tests and buy whatever sounds good to you :)
