I guess I'll be in the minority here. I bought these by mistake when I was rushing to buy the Sennheisers that recently dropped since they look so similar and dropped at the same time. The sound is unique and potentially nice, but in my mind the physical discomfort and ugliness of these headphones just does not even come close to being justified to endure as the price for obtaining that sound. The phones seem to be designed for people with extremely large heads and ears. They don't fit snugly at all, and the felt ear muffs looked faded and dusty right out of the box. They just have an overall feeling of cheapness and lameness to them. Disappointing.
Maybe I have large head and ears? I just opened mine a few songs ago and am really happy, I haven't looked in a mirror as I didn't buy them to enhance my appearance; maybe I look ridiculous–I don't care in the least. Very comfortable, was pleased to find I can unscrew the large plug and find a phone-compatible plug beneath. As I read your review, I pulled off the headphones to look for signs of dust, fade, cheap, or lameness. None noted.
Lol seriously a comment about ugliness? I usually don't pose for self fashion shows in a mirror when I'm listening to high quality audio, nor do i expect a fully open back headphone to be an ideal portable can. To each their own i guess... Hope the sennheiser's will be more photogenic for your audiophile selfies! =D
How did you accidently buy the akg's instead of the sennheisers xD

Interesting comment about the looks. One of the reasons I bought them is I think they look great. I think they look like what a pair of professional headphones looks like. They aren't trying to look like something other than what they are. I like that.
