Would these be a good headphone to use for someone who isn't really that experienced with better quality headphones? I've never owned any AKG headphones and never used open ones either.

RedPortalI havent tried these but open headphones are more for at home listening since they leak so much sound but this creates a wider sound stage (I have Sennheiser HD 515s and HD 598 on the way) Usually when headphones go for a "natural sound" it means they are as close as to when it was recorded as possible meaning you probably wont get the thundering bass you're used to. For money these are at the very least worth it, if you wanna dip your toes in Audiophile style listening
All that said I have owned higher end AKG headphones a d when they say natural sound they mean a VERY flat sound but depending on the person you might dig it
30 something dollars isn't much, join the drop

EckhartThe description is relatively correct in that these are fairly accurate. They also lack dampening in the cups and tend to add a little too much of their own reverb to anything you play through the headphone. They are also a bit muffled, too, but I'm thinking it's the thin earpads that are at fault there.

RedPortalThese would probably be good. I don't own a pair, but AKG is a very good brand for quality headphones.

RedPortalThey're probably good. Considering that the 60 or so amazon reviews give them 4.5 stars when they're $64 should be some indicator. I'm going for them because my old panasonics are getting a bit old. One reviewer in amazon said that they're still fine after 3+ years of operation.

RedPortalSkip these headphones and buy some Philips SHP9500. They're almost unknown headphones, open backed and cost between 50-60 dollars. They also sound better than 200+ dollar Sennheiser HD600s. This is also coming from a guy who has owned 600s and higher end AKG headphones. You won't regret it. + you can use any cable on the philips. LIKE ANY CABLE
