New to audiophile and would mostly be using these on my computer. They would currently be without a dac or amp till I get a little more cash saved up. Would these be good for gaming or strictly for studio use?

OnceSavedGamingThe Philips SHP9500 with V-Moda BoomPro (assuming you don't have a mic and prefer a headset-like experience) get a lot of praise. They are priced a bit higher than usual (still worth it) due to hype/popularity and them being discontinued if I remember correctly (correct me if I'm wrong on the latter). The only reason to tell you not to grab these is if you want closed-back headphones.
The M220 with stock pads (mentioned in an earlier post) aren't very comfortable by comparison. It's far from unbearable, but I value comfort a lot for gaming. They're definitely not "wear for 5 hours straight" comfortable. Explains why I haven't listened to my M220 in a while, despite it being fun to listen to.

WaahI currently use a logitech g430 headset but have never used the mic, don't have friends that I game with and so a mic option isn't a big deal and there are a lot of cheap solutions for that anyhow if I started. Idk if you'd have any comparison to the logitech as far as comfort. I have gauged ears and have found no headsets "comfortable" as they do not go over my plugs. This seems like an awesome deal and I don't want to pass up another bargain.

OnceSavedGamingWhile I can't comment on comfort between the two, M220 should be a big upgrade from most headsets in regard to sound quality. Wouldn't be all over them for gaming as mentioned beforehand, but they're good overall for the price. Will definitely sound even better once you grab an amp/dac!

WaahOk thank you soo much for the input! It is greatly appreciated. I'll do a little more research. Is there amp/dacs worth owning that won't break the bank?

OnceSavedGamingSMSL's offerings are quite affordable and on Massdrop every now and then. Micca OriGen+ is another great choice (as indicated by polls on Massdrop, coincidentally).

OnceSavedGaming+1 on the idea of the Micca OriGen+ offering if you can get it. Additionally , the Schiit Fulla is a good offering at a TINY form factor. As far as portables go, I am a huge fan of the Fiio E07K "Andes" if you can get it, or the Fiio E17K. I have heard a good deal of SMSL (Got the Ivy coming in soon), but I haven't listened to their products enough to recommend them either way.

kamikaziH2Omln21Thanks for the HUGE chunk of advice. I am at the moment just looking for an affordable upgrade, AMP and DAC upgrades I can someday probably get from my dad. He is quite the audiophile.
The lack of bass is kind of a disapointment for me, as the main use is gaming and listening to house, EDM, rap and some rock and pop. I looked online some more and found the Samson SR850, quite cheap and is said to complete with headphones with triple its price. It has 50mm drivers which help for clear lows. Coincidentally the design is almost an exact copy of the M220.
Thanks for the help, I will for sure keep those DACs in the back of my head for when I have money again. :)
