Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

Getting back to @RotemK on my earpad adventures, picked up ~7 dollar pads mentioned on page 12 (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KLPRQMO) and popped out Beyer pads from the DT880.
Immediately knew I wasn't going to like them cheap velours because well, as you can see in the photo below (I need a real camera, damn that awful quality) the ear-hole is smaller. Don't like having pads touching my ears, especially not with the slightly rougher material this is made out of. They're also noticeably more stiff than other velour pads I own. Earpads fit well on the headphone and that's really about it. I'd actually take stock pads over these, but certainly would reconsider if they had more room for my ears. If nothing I stated bothers you and you really want cheap velours just to try them out even, they're there. Even so, I feel like you could do better than these with the number of knockoff pads out there.
Beyer pads are much better in every way by comparison (better be, considering cost difference). Earpads fit perfectly from what I can tell and they're just... Beyer pads! Solid choice if you can spend extra and can't stand pleather. I think there ought to be some good choices for pleather around somewhere, so someone ought to figure that out.
Some say the K240's sound signature changed for the worse with Beyer pads, but I personally value comfort more. I couldn't discern a noticeable difference, not that I have a trained ear for detecting such things in the first place.
