Hey guys, anyone mind chiming in with some amp suggestions for the Q701s? I think there's a bunch of people eyeing these that will benefit from some guidance!

MarkYou want a warmer amp generally to pair well, which often means tubes. Schiit Vali and Little Dot Mk I+ are two of the most recommended starter amps I've seen on Head-fi. If you step up in price a bit, the Matrix M-stage is awesome as well as the Audio-GD NFB-15 (I can recommend both from experience). The Audio-GD also has a fantastic DAC built-in.
I assume any of the cheap tube amps that keep popping up on here would do well (Bravo, Little Dot, etc). The Aune isn't a tube amp, it's a tube DAC so be careful with that one.

KabooseTo clarify, Vali is generally preferred to the Magni, for the Q701. So not the Magni/Modi Schiit stack, the Vali/Modi Schiit stack.

StillhartThat's not true at all for many people. The Vali is only preferred by those seeking a warmer sound signature. The Modi is what you want if you enjoy a more analytical sound, a very clean sound.
I personally think the K7xx and Q701 are very analytical headphones and match nicely with the Modi. I would be more tempted to pair the K712 with the Vali as the K712 is a bit warm itself and would pair well with a warmer amp. I would also potentially pair HD600 with the Vali over the Modi. But I would still say the Magni is preferred for me anyway for the Q701, K701, and K702.

KaboosePersonally, I agree with Stillhart. I'm a little sensitive to harsher highs and sibilance so the Vali paired really well with my K712s. To each his own though. I think the Vali adds a bit more fun to the sound of the K712s whereas, like you said, the Modi might be better for analytical listening.
