w000t!!! received my pair of white akg q701 today!!! texas, USA :) thxs massdrop & quincy jones :) heh
quick review: very lightweight, very stylish. proprietary end of cable to connect into the L earcup, both cables are lime green, bumps does not noticeable detract from comfort.
sonic impressions: sound quality is amazing for the drop price of $149. great sound stage. a lot of clarity and detail. sound frequency pretty balanced. brighter pair of headphones compared to the hifiman HE-400. bass is present and tight during EDM songs (definitely not bass-heavy though). amazing vocals and very crisp treble. no sibilance noted. [I don't believe in burn-in, so this is fresh outta the box listening, paired with a Bravo V3 tube amp & SA UD110v2 dac]

money4me247Assuming you got that v3 on massdrop as well? :P
Just wondering, are you still using the included 6922 tube, and do you find EQ-ing with the v3 helps at all with the sound? With my 770's (80 ohm) it takes a bit of EQ-ing to get the sound where I like it, considering trying some other tubes but the choices are a bit overwhelming.
Getting white as well, at first I was kicking myself for missing the blacks but seeing some pictures I've grown to like the whites more. We'll see Monday when they get here :D (Just got to the post office here in AZ so there's a chance they will deliver it tomorrow, fingers crossed!)

money4me247After 100 - 200 hrs of burn in, the headphones will be fantastic.
Are you going to use bass-mod? If you do, please let us know how it goes.

Billybombill@billybombill,
Honestly, i've tried a bunch of different amps and dacs, and I really couldn't tell the difference between the equipment personally. I can tell the difference between headphones, but I usually just keep the ones I like un-EQed. Tried messing with the EQ back in the day, but it's more hassle for me than it's worth bc I have a bunch of different headphones and different sources.
