I saw this drop appear this morning and sure enough expected it to sell fast by this evening. Looks like it's mostly the extra pieces that MD may have allocated/retained from the last one (non-payment etc.), as it's only 125 pieces. The black ones always seem to be the first ones to go. Though from a comment earlier on in the thread, AKG relayed the info that the white seems to be the most popular one, based on sales volume.
I received mine from the last drop, and I've run them out of an ASUS DG sound card (it has a headphone amp stage on the L/R front out) and it's plenty fine. I also have an O2 amp, and it's got plenty of headroom. The O2 definitely drives it with more authority, but even the DG ($20-$40) card would suffice. The thing people really should be looking for is a quality DAC with these. This headphone isn't that forgiving of crap source/material. If you're strapped for cash, check out the hifimediy USB dac, it's based on a Sabre (good quality) chip and won't run you over $70 or so for the top end one.
These are also not meant to be used in an office or portable, they're like mini speakers - they definitely leak sound.
