Why did the Black&White color become unavailable? That was my first choice. Do I have to wait for the next drop?

razer65These are the only colors left for this series. There will be a version 2 coming out later but it will be priced higher.

razer65The final "official" version of MAX will go into production about December 5 and should be here in January. It is essentially the same but with two upgrades and as @B.Hutch says it will be more expensive.
Part of the extra cost is the upgrades, part is a general cost increase of production from the factory. Raw material costs (foam and steel), currency exchange costs and the fact that the Chinese government has been cracking down on polluters has meant that a lot of factories for goods such as PU leather, that use a lot of chemical processing, have been closed. AKRacing never used those marginal companies for its materials but it creates scarcity in the market driving up costs for everyone.

brodney16Sorry, we'll be introducing the new products in early January...I'm not really able to say much more at this time, I hope you understand. Our competition reads these forums too and telling them now would give them a chance to get rolling in a similar direction. Let's just say that the differences are not substantial but they are two definite improvements. The price will probably be +18-20% over this one, because we gave Massdrop a special price on these to move through them quickly once we decided to not bring it to market. This current version is a heck of deal at the Massdrop price.
