CreepyCactuarMy chair also arrived with a dent on the same part of the backrest as the previous poster. I initially chalked it up to shipping damage, but given someone else received theirs with a similar defect, it looks like it might have came from the factory this way. I'd be interested to see if others received damaged chairs.
SomeGuySomewhereI also have an indentation at the top of the chair where my head rests. The plastic covering for the chair lift bottom portion is also broken on mine.
I'm disappointed in the quality control for such an expensive product.
Other than these complaints, I really do like the chair and would recommend it.
Pesty-AssassinI contacted AKRacing and they are so far replacing my broken parts it seems. Im still waiting on a reply for the backrest issue. I suggest contacting them directly.
Pesty-Assassin@QwikMass@CreepyCactuar@scottjknox To the several of you with the dented chair issue. As I have said to one other poster, this is not a manufacturing defect or a problem with QC in the factory. It is a problem with QC in our warehouse here in California. It is obvious, to me at least, that the chairs were not stored in their proper position. It looks like this is exactly one pallets worth of chairs that were stacked on their side so it caused the heavy parts to shift into the chair. That is why they are all dented in the same fashion and place. There is no excuse for this and I will make sure that this does not happen again.
Obviously, this is not the out of box experience we want you to have and wish it was different. That said, we will get you taken care of. Please contact us at service@akracing.com Everyone with the dented chair back, this should return to normal in a few days. If it does not we will replace it for you. If you want it to go back quicker, you can apply a little heat, say a hair dryer at low or medium, and it will come back right away It is not a defect, per se, but a problem caused by poor handling.
AKRacingAmerica@CreepyCactuar@jackerjack@SomeGuySomewhere@Pesty-Assassin@mattressgiant240 Just to let you all know, I confirmed with the factory that my assumption of what happened was correct. I had to "assume" since I was at home when I saw these posts and could not go and look at a packaged unit to test for myself. Our factory QC manager said it is because the frog mechanism bottom hit the chair headrest.
It happened inside the box because they were stored on their sides and it shifted. The heavy item is intentionally packaged in the bottom of the box to exactly prevent this. Although I usually like to blame the shippers for hidden damage, and the broken pieces some of you had are from shipping damage, to have that kind of indent it had to lay like that for many days, even weeks. But they also confirmed that a few days from now it will be as normal or, as I said earlier, a bit of applied heat will bring it back to normal shape immediately. Each of you please contact our customer service service@akracing.com and we'll send you out one of our footrests as an apology.
AKRacingAmericaThank you for your prompt feedback.
I will try your suggestion of applying heat to reshape the leather to see if that can solve my issue.
I'll be sure to reach out to the customer service email you've provided.
AKRacingAmericaThanks. I applied heat but its still present. I got the Deluxe so idk if the leather is the issue or the padding. maybe a little of both but ill use it for a bit to see if it comes back to form. I contacted support again regarding the issue and for now im just waiting on the plastic cover replacements.
CreepyCactuarIt will come back to form. You can try a little more heat but probably best to be careful. The foam is foam, but it is molded foam so it just doesn't bounce back like a foam pillow which is made from original foam. But it will resume its original shape.
CreepyCactuarThe dent in my chair has also not disappeared, nor can I detect any lessening of the effect in the 5 days since the chair arrived. Has anyone successfully removed the dent with the application of heat or can at least report it has started to resume a non-dented shape?
CreepyCactuar@Zixacunx@SmokieRat@Dejurka@jackerjack@jzen0@mattressgiant240 We do apologize if some of the responses have been a little slow. We have been super-busy since Black Friday. This is our first year in business and we did not know what to expect. I mean, sure, we knew it was going to be busier, but we could not have guessed that it would be as busy as it became. So we staffed up beforehand in both the warehouse and customer service but it wasn't enough. So, please be patient we will get everyone handled.
As others have reported the chair foam does recover as we promised. If for some reason someone's does not after several weeks, we will replace the backrest. Don't worry, we live up to our commitments. Stuff happens but we always do everything possible to make it right.
AKRacingAmericaIt's been almost 2 weeks since I contacted customer support via email about my replacement part/footrest and have not heard back. Also, the dent is still present in my chair.
Is there a phone number that I can call so I can speak to a human about my situation?
mattressgiant240Strange, they told me this morning that everyone was being communicated with and/or taken care of. Yes, our phone number is proudly and clearly displayed on the "contact us" page of our website. 805-383-7005.
mattressgiant240i got my replacements from them along with the foot rest a few days ago. The dent is still there on the backrest but I got too much going on right now to spend any more time trying to resolve an issue with a chair. As long as the leather doesnt rip or parts break im just done caring at this point. lol
