I'm 5'11 and 220 lbs. Would this chair be too big for me?

AKRacingAmericaYou guys posting these kind of replies just made me waste $350! How can you in good conscious give people terrible advice just to secure a sale. I am 5'11" and 165 and my feet are 3 inches from touching the ground and I can not even scoot back fully in the seat as my calves are being smooshed on this chair purchased on the advice of this post and another post of yours where you advise someone even shorter at 5'10" they will be OK in this chair. Here is a pic to prove it. Please allow me to return this chair for a full refund as this is ridiculous!

Hi,
We are very careful to say that every body is different. And that some people are more leg or more torso, if you read all of the comments. I am 1" taller than you and fit perfectly in this chair and my feet easily touch the ground. So, please, let's find a way to make you happy with your purchase. We can probably send you a new gas lift that will take care of this, please write us at service@akracing.com and we'll get you taken care of. Please give us some extra time to respond as several of our staff are at Pax West this holiday weekend so the office is short staffed tomorrow and Tuesday.

AKRacingAmericaI have above average length legs, I am not a long torso person. This chair should not be recommended to anyone under at least 6 feet tall without an explanation of what to expect and to do so is unethical business wise, im sure I am not the first person to complain about this as I see that some person above had to turn the chair into a stationary chair with 1" pegs in place of the rollers in order to have his feet touch the ground and that is probably with shoes on, some of us actually use our chairs at home with just bare feet or socks. Also there is no way to solve the fact that I can not even have my tail bone near the back of the chair to take advantage of the lumbar support pillow correcting my posture. My previous chair is actually 23 inches from the front of the seat to the back of the back where as according to your chart shows 23.6 for the prox but I guess there is much more meat in the back portion of my previous chair, as my calves do not hit the chair front there is about an inch gap also this is without a back pillow on my previous chair. Looking at the dimension chart it appears your seat also had a meaty back portion but it seems its thin and that is just the wings off the side of the chair which doesn't help when trying to judge the fit of the chair hence why I turned to the discussion to help make my decision and at the top of the page you guys more than once are recommending it for 5'10" and 5'11" people. Possibly you should have another dimension showing the actual dimension of the seat on top to show the actual seating area. I don't know, I feel deceived, there is no way anyone of average to slightly above average length legs under 6' tall can truly sit on this chair in the correct seating posture correctly and comfortably as you can see in my picture with the bottom of the seat sticking into my calves about 2 inches quite uncomfortably not to mention my feet dangling in the air like a 6 year old kid in an adult chair. There is actually a very easy solution to this problem, 1 would be not to recommend this chair for anyone under 6' tall without pointing out they will most likely have to slouch in the chair to not have it stick in their calves uncomfortably and point out there is a good chance their feet wont touch the ground especially without shoes on and 2 would be to edit your posts where you advise especially 5'10" people that this chair would be ok for them so this does not happen to others on the next drop and 3 would be to allow the people who were mislead to return the chair. I understand this is massdrop and their rules apply but this is a unique situation where customers who need help are asking you questions and receiving false information. I will point out the chair is very good quality I really think this chair would shine for someone who is around 6'2" to 6'3", I dont know if people taller than that even have options for larger chairs. I did contact your support yesterday, I will be patient for a reply, thank you for letting me know the office was short staffed to address my emails :)

Saaz, I am sorry that you are not having a good experience with the chair and I am sure @AKRacingAmerica will get you taken care of. However, we are all confused by your specific experience with the chair.
I say that as I just had someone who is 5'9" & 160lbs sit in the chair and their feet touched the floor no problem. Also, I had someone who is 5'7" and 120lbs sit in the chair and their feet touched the floor (of course the chair is too big for the person that is 5'7" but their feet still touched the floor) Both of these people are normal leg/torso per portioned as well.
I think something might not be assembled correctly or maybe the the gas lift did not get locked into position in the chair, or maybe its even possible that the height setting of the chair is not all the way down. I am not sure, and I am not assuming either. Something just does not add up here as if you are 5'11" regardless of your torso/leg ration you should have not problems fitting in this chair.
Again, sorry for the experience you are having and the AKRacing team will make sure you are taken care of.
Cheers.

AKRacingSupportYes of course anyone of any height can get their feet to touch the ground by sliding down the seat slouched, the chair is so big they have to and that will be their default and only comfortable position on the seat. I am sitting in the seat in the appropriate sitting position, which is the reason I bought the chair and assume is the reason people buy $350 chairs with posture support pillows. Anyone can slouch comfortable in any chair even a huge lazyboy. I'm taking advantage of the pillow supporting my arch following the drawn picture diagram you put somewhere I can't remember with having everything at right angles (I'm attempting that and am unable too due to the size that is impossible and uncomfortable). If the chair is the size of the one I received if you had them sit correctly (tail bone near back of chair, pillow supporting arch of back) you will see their feet are not on the ground and they are not able to sit correct even fully due to the bottom seat hitting their calves. The proof is in the picture I posted. Everything is assembled correctly and the issue of my seat sticking into my calves 2 inches has nothing to do with how it can be assembled. Possibly I got a seat that's abnormally large or a back rest that's abnormally thin, as everything manufactured has tolerances especially hand made products, however if that is the case I'd rather not risk it again and just return it for refund and not waste more time.

Again, this is very unusual situation. Something seems off. Have you reached out to the AKRacing support team yet so they can get you taken care of?

AKRacingSupportYeah, emailed them Wednesday still awaiting a reply :) I also just want people to be able to see this as this is not a cheap product and is not something to mess around with with Massdrop return policy, like the guy who had to turn his chair stationary with "slider" nubs in place of wheels, luckily the way he prefers to sit in the chair or the dimensions of his allow him to be comfortable at least once he replaced the wheels and I really dont have time or patience to be measuring every aspect or tinkering around with a product assembling it and disassembling it with various parts attempting to get it to not be "off". If it is "off" isnt that a defective or not as described item and I dont see why this is so difficult to remedy with a return?

AKRacingSupportSo I reached out to @AKRacing im guessing since they realized its pretty messed up to offer bogus advise and put someone in a chair that their feet are 3 inches off the ground in they offered at my expense to exchange it for a lesser value chair. It didnt seem like very good customer service as it took about a week for them to get back to me with a decision. Of course I denied, who would pay a high amount of extra money to get a lesser value product in return? Im still hoping you guys can find a solution for this problem as the pictures do not lie on the issue.

Just want to let everyone know to be wary of @AKRacingAmerica advise on their products! This picture is the true showing of what the chair looks like with someone 5'11" sitting in their product that they think you will be good in. They tried to make me pay to return it to receive a cheaper chair. Read through the comment and see the other people who got burned on their advise to secure a sale. One guy had to basically set the base on the ground with pegs removing the wheels and a few others have been burned as well.

AKRacingAmericaAlso not once did I call Massdrop liars, if you read this we are trying to figure out why my chair is so big, no one can understand why? As you see the Massdrop guy just said it is a very weird situation.
