It's not the materials you're paying for, it's the quality of the knife. Al Mar is known for high quality and simple yet functional designs. Also....saying S30V is "slightly" better than AUS8 is a complete understatement.

kpms0nBuck is also known for their extremely high quality builds, as well as their permanent warranty that they're very reliable about honoring. And you can get a very similar looking custom buck in the superior S30V for < $100. I get the whole mantra of Massdrop that you aren't looking for budget items, but I still think you should be looking to get what you pay for, and I don't think this knife is worth $170 or even $150

connguyI'm not sure about that mantra , budget items are fine , I think we just look for a great deal with on those items. Some budget items sell the most. An under 100$ s30v Buck would be fantastic!
