It's a go! The order for the Al Mar Eagle Heavy Duty ZDP189 was placed just after the drop came to an end. Now our vendor will be working hard to prepare it for shipment to each of you.
As soon as we receive word from the vendor about the shipping schedule, we will update you all with that information.
Look forward to another update from us by the end of the day Pacific Time on 11/23 or earlier if anything comes up.

What's the purpose of laminating the ZDP between AUS-8? The description says in order to make the blade harder and wear resistant, but is this so? I can understand how laminating might make the blade stiffer (less prone to bending), but how would it make the blade harder and more wear resistant?
Or is it merely for a cost savings?
As long as the core is ZDP-189 and the outside is a suitable steel, it shouldn't affect performance. I'm just curious why they chose to laminate instead of going with straight ZDP-189.

Al Mar makes nearly perfect knives. I own an Al Mar Sere 2000. Its, build, finish, and smooth action are second to none. This is a beautiful, elegant knife.

Saw this blade, and I think it looks great, then I saw AUS-8 in the description and was like... $200 for aus8? whaaaat?
However, I have learned a bit about laminating as a result. I would love one of these with a closer-to-legal-length blade! And hopefully cheaper too :)
Let's get some Al-Mar ultra lites!
