Just recently upgraded to the SR18 and the samples are definitely a cut above the SR16's. Lots of grooves to get started with out of the box, but the SR16's simplicity can't be beat (heh). Both would make great toys for jamming along with, but the SR16 definitely sounds more drum-machiney. As a drummer, I never liked the idea of a drum machine, but playing around bass and guitar is a lot more fun with one of these guys backing you up.

davidroolsI could use this unit as both a stand-alone drum machine and as a module for one external triggers, correct? On the pic I see looks one input jack for something like a snare pad?
