I actually would have a specific use for this, but for the zipper. I'd love to see a version without that; either a snap-closure for that pocket, or just no pocket there.

j.a.lCan you be more specific? What is it about the zipper closure that doesn't work for you? We're always tweaking our designs based on community feedback so we'd love to hear your ideas.

This is most likely a bit niche. I'd mainly use this to keep a pencil/notebook handy while outdoors in a harsh environment - day to day, I honestly wouldn't use it, but when out and about desert-camping (OK, I'll stop being coy, Burning Man), it would be very handy.
The problem with zippers there is that the playa (a very fine gypsum particulate) destroys them. (Super-heavy zippers such as on boots and flexible enclosures are OK if you take care of them; lesser zippers quickly seize up.) I know the zipper would be jammed after using it a couple times.. Snaps would be fine; in the alternative, simply no pocket would work for me, too.
