I work with a Allen & Heath Qu-32 but thats not my personal one, if I had alot of money to spare then perhaps I would get this. They are good quality mixers, I'd rate them 5/5 they amazing.
GameSofterThe answer will dependent on your use-case. Feature set wise they have about the same amount and types of features - the difference being the execution and the operation experience. The QU-16 is probably more durable than the X32. Also take into consideration if you have a licensed repair shop/service center near you; if the UQ-16 or X32 break down (its inevitable - it will happen eventually) - if you can't get it to be fixed than you have a $3000 paperweight. The one with the better support and feels more natural to use should be the one you pick.
GameSofterI have both the Qu-16 and the X32 (full size). They are both great mixers, but both are clearly aimed at different use cases.
You know that gap between using a 16-channel rackmounted analog and the full-featured X32? This fills that gap perfectly.
Advantages this has over the x32 are (just off the top of my head, haven't done any shows in a bit):
1) Touchscreen
2) Easier to pick up for people new to digital boards
3) Very straightforward setup, no complex routing options to worry about
4) Sends on faders for all outputs immediately available on hand
Basically, A&H designed a drop-in replacement for all those 16-ch analogs, and it comes with a much friendlier learning curve (compared to most digital boards).
$1000 snake? where on earth do you shop. google the product name of the snake included. its $350. this really isnt as slick of a deal as other massdrops.
Lmneozooyep if it was worth $1000 it would have neutrik connectors/sockets, a fan separation ring, a strain relief loop on the fan end and probably higher quality cable. While the XLR connectors appear to a non generic Chinese they are still no where near as good quality as neutrik. On a side note the snake is also way too small for this mixer - your short 4 input channels and short 6 return channels if your running FHO through the core.
MansellManYo dude that is so not true!!!
It is actually more with the $70-90 shipping to the US and thats before the freaking taxes and tariffs. If you want to buy it, buy it local, but don't tell lies.
This is a fantastic mixer if you're looking to switch from analog to digital. I was ready for my first gig on my Qu-24 in about an hour or so.
If you only need the mixer, Sweetwater has it for $1949.99 after $50 mail-in rebate. But with the snake, this can't be beat.
If you put up a buy for one of the A&H digital stage boxes, I'll join.
